Watkins Covers

After completing my degree, I was invited to join the Watkins design team for 6 months. During this time, I was able to pick up a few cover briefs to work on. This gave me hands-on experience in dealing with clients and how they write their briefs. From this, I got three covers Author Approved to be sent to print later in 2026.

The first is a cosy crime called "Grace & Jo Have Never Solved a Murder", where two women team up to solve the murder of a wealthy man who collected art. There are hints to the narrative within the cover, including the upside-down pineapple, poison and the Liberty Bell. Small symbols that readers will only put together once they have read the book.

The second two are a series by R.J. Dark, a much darker crime book set on a housing estate in the North of England. The author wanted something rustic and expressive of the area it was set in--though wanted something to hint towards something lighter, hence why I added the graffitti-esque typography in order to create some distinction from the serious tone.
